Sub Family

Performs complex data research and analysis to support business operations including: creating data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets, analysis may be applied to various areas of the business (e.g., Market Economics, Supply Chain, Marketing/Advertising, Scientific Research, etc.), and researching and applying knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions. At higher career levels, may conduct scientific research projects with the goal of breaking new ground in data analytics.

Develops and implements research initiatives within the university. Plans and administers data collection; conceptualizes, designs, and conducts analytical studies, and develops reports. May be involved in Federal Institution reporting requirements.

Provides strategic internal consulting for the institution to operate more efficiently. Activities include: identifying and measuring problems, and recommending, customizing and implementing solutions; servicing the institution in areas including operations, finance and information systems to help organizations run more effectively; identifying opportunities and potential growth areas for the institution and developing action plans for institution to achieve their long-term objectives.

Identifies internal and external strategic issues and opportunities that could affect growth and profitability of the institution. Activities include identifying growth opportunities, business model innovation, and facilitating cross-department initiatives; monitoring medium to long-term business trends/outlooks, gathering competitive intelligence to contribute to strategic planning discussions with leadership; identifying and negotiating strategic partnerships including financial arrangements, customer sharing, and intellectual property rights; prioritizing and tracking investments across new product development initiatives
