Manages, maintains, and plans for the institution’s facilities and assets. Includes maintaining buildings, facilities, and grounds in clean/hygienic condition. Provides services related to the operation, maintenance, and renovation of all the institution’s property, including student housing facilities, buildings, facilities, parking, and equipment. Activities include supervision of internal staff and external vendors in areas such as facilities maintenance and repair and custodial and groundskeeping services, planning efficient utilization of space and facilities, examining facilities and evaluating elements, such as HVAC and lighting, for size, condition and suitability, planning, coordinating and implementing furniture, equipment, office and factory layout and moves, and negotiating lease(s) and monitoring for lease contract compliance.
Manages processes and teams in one or more of the following areas: Facilities Management (e.g., property management, purchasing related to facilities, vehicle fleet management, etc.), Facilities Planning (e.g., space planning, facility infrastructure condition assessment, etc.), Facilities Security (People/Facilities). May plan maintenance programs for building and grounds including the upkeep of equipment and supplies. Coordinating contractors for projects where required. Overseeing the planning of space allocation and changes.
Oversees and manages construction projects on campus. This includes planning, coordinating, and executing construction activities to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Manages engineering, programming / utilization planning, design, and development of campus properties and facilities, including buildings, infrastructure, and landscape projects. Conducts research on project requirements and prepares information regarding specifications, cost, and timeline. Effectively integrates projects into the existing campus, produces detailed plans, and coordinates the work of contractors. Oversees and facilitates the design and construction of infrastructure, open spaces, renovations and new facilities to meet the university’s mission and goals.
Coordinates and administers activities to ensure efficient maintenance of the institution’s buildings, facilities, machinery and equipment. Manages campus parking facilities and transportation services. Forecasts vehicle parking patterns and transportation needs, enforces parking rules and regulations; issues parking permits. Manages fleet of motor pool vehicles.
Manages, incorporates, and plans institution-wide real estate needs for buildings, equipment and facilities. Activities include incorporating real estate solutions; site location and acquisition, managing relationships with outside vendors; negotiating leases; disposing of excess property. Positions in this sub-family are responsible for managing or performing work pertaining to the land activities of the institution. Activities include the administration of land contracts, including preparation and approval; execution and registration of leases, sub-leases, easements, surface leases, crossing agreements and related documents. Ensures appropriate maintenance of documentation and contracts.
Leads and coordinates sustainability efforts at the institution. Develops sustainability initiatives and prioritizes strategies for the institution. Fosters a sense of shared community and responsibility for the environment.
