Robert Whitehouse Gordillo

Benefits Analyst and Executive Assistant

Our Benefits Analyst and Executive Assistant, Robert Whitehouse Gordillo.

1. What is your job title?

Benefits Analyst & Executive Assistant

2. What exactly do you do in your position?

“I provide comprehensive support to the University’s employees regarding their benefits, specifically retirement savings programs and tuition assistance (TAP), as well as supporting the Chief Benefits Officer.”

3. How do you serve the Georgetown community?

“So far I served GU by assisting and helping my colleagues based on their needs as I transition into my role. Once settled I will be interacting a lot with other GU employees and it will be my responsibility to inform, communicate and support them. That excites me as I believe my strengths revolve around my altruism and commitment to create relationships. My end goal is always to help others.”

4. How long have you been at Georgetown University?

1 Month

5. Why did you choose to serve at GU?

“When I moved to DC I had a checklist of things I wanted from my next employer. This included things like growth opportunities, great work culture, aligned values and most importantly a place where I could be proud to work in. The last 3 years I had been working in Public Schools and Early Education, but I was really interested in joining Higher Education.  I applied to GU and, the more I learned about the role and University from reading and my interviews, the more things I would check off my list. I was confident I wanted to work here and become part of Georgetown’s community.”

6. What’s your hometown?

“My hometown is Levittown, Puerto Rico. I lived there for 25 years before moving to the United States less than 4 years ago. Most of my family still lives there so I make sure to visit every year, especially for Chritsmas. If you see me with earphones on there is a high chance I am listening to Bad Bunny.”

7. Educational Background

Robert graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, with a double major—a BA in Journalism and a BA in English Literature. He continues to enhance his education and knowledge today, as he considers himself a lifelong learner.

8. What are three fun facts that the Georgetown community may not know about you?

I have been with my wife now for 10 years and we got married last Fall on October 19th, 2024.

I have two beautiful cats who mean the world to me, Killua & Kali. Killua we rescued while we lived in Puerto Rico and Kali we just adopted 2 months ago. I am always happy to share pictures.

I love traveling and soccer. My favorite trip so far has been going to Paris and my favorite team is Real Madrid.
