Lactation Rooms

Georgetown University provides several clean, comfortable spaces designated for nursing mothers to pump while they have to be away from their babies due to work or school. Currently, with Covid protocols in place, each room accommodates one woman at a time and are available for any GU staff, faculty, or student with a valid GUID.  In all locations, nursing mothers will need to provide their own pump. Storage of personal belongings or milk in the room is not permitted.

MAIN CAMPUS

There are two lactation rooms (aka Mother’s rooms) on Main Campus:

  • Car Barn Lactation Room CB-306-D: The room is available Monday through Friday, from 7:30am until 9:00pm, and the Car Barn is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
  • Intercultural Center (ICC) Room 229 behind the ICC Auditorium (look for the signs).  The room is available Monday through Friday, from 8:00am until 9:00pm, and Saturdays from 8:00am until 5:00pm.

In order to gain access to one of these two rooms, nursing mothers will need to register by filling out this form (GU Lactation Room Registration) and someone will be in contact with you to give you the door access code.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions regarding these two lactation rooms, please contact Jane Banister (jb39@georgetown.edu). Any requests or reports related to maintenance, cleaning or supplies should be directed to the HR/Benefits front desk (7-2500).
