Projects & Initiatives

The staff of the Human Resources department is committed to supporting Georgetown University faculty and staff, their families, and our community.  We are continuously engaged in evaluating the programs and services we offer and are active participants in our community.  Referenced below are some of our current initiatives and projects:

Facilities For Nursing Mothers

Georgetown Univeristy provides several clean, comfortable spaces designated for nursing mothers to pump while they have to be away from their babies due to work or school.

Emergency Labor Pool (ELP)

The University has created an Emergency Labor Pool (ELP) as part of its emergency response planning. In the event of a declared emergency, the ELP will allow the University to reassign existing employees to ensure that essential functions are filled without an impact to departmental budgets.

We are asking supervisors to determine which employees are essential in their roles in their own departments and which employees can be reassigned in a time of need to other departments to work part or all of their regular work hours. The latter should be directed to enroll online in the ELP.

Employee Registration

An employee’s regular department will be responsible for paying the employee for the hours worked in another department. We would encourage employees that are interested in enrolling to talk with their supervisors.

Departments that are in need of assistance must submit online job orders. The link to the online job order will be made available on this page in the event of a declared emergency.

ELP Q&A’s

Hoya Staffing will administer the ELP. Please contact Laura Bryant at 7-2361 or lab59@georgetown.edu if you have any questions.

Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School

Opportunities exist for Georgetown departments to get involved by having a student work in their department.  GUHR envisions a growth in number of DBCR students working for GU departments and invites them to partake in this Corporate Work-Study Program.  Read more about opportunities to participate in this worthwhile program here.
