FSAP Discussion on the Presidential Inauguration
The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) welcomes Georgetown employees (all staff, faculty and AAPs) to engage in a safe and stimulating conversation on the Inauguration and the events leading to it. We will have a discussion from 2-3 pm on Tuesday, January 19 and 6:30-7:30 pm on Thursday, January 21. We are all invested in what is happening in our country and experience emotional responses to unfolding events. With this in mind, the FSAP is offering an opportunity to our community to share their thoughts and feelings now. We will also be able to suggest resources for continued support beyond this conversation.
Georgetown University’s Faculty & Staff Assistance Program provides free, confidential counseling, consultation, and educational services to faculty, staff and their immediate family members. We can assist with a variety of personal and work-related concerns, including mental health issues, workplace conflict, relationship problems, parenting stress, and substance abuse.
- Online mental health screening;
- Short-term counseling for faculty and staff with mental health, work-related, or other concerns that may affect job performance;
- Consultation with supervisors on managing troubled employees and improving employee job performance;
- Trainings and workshops on managing mental health and work/life balance, improving workplace skills, and on FSAP services;
- Referrals to community resources for mental health/psychosocial support and other types of assistance.
Employees may refer themselves or supervisors can suggest that employees take advantage of FSAP’s confidential services to deal with personal difficulties that come to the supervisor’s attention. Under certain circumstances, supervisors may make formal referrals when the employee’s job performance is seriously deteriorating. All referrals to FSAP are voluntary.
