Sponsor a Family Program

The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program administers the Department of Human Resources’ annual Sponsor a Family Program. The program offers members of the university community an opportunity to offer assistance to Georgetown families in need during the holiday season. Sponsor a Family is one of the many programs by which the Georgetown Community evinces the university’s Jesuit values.

The Sponsor a Family Program is entirely confidential. No identifying information will be shared with sponsors or sponsored families.

How it Works

  1. Members of the GU community are invited to nominate families by emailing their nomination to fsap@georgetown.edu or gp529@georgetwn.edu using the subject line “Sponsor a Family.” Individuals or groups interested in sponsoring a family can also contact either of the email addresses listed above to volunteer to participate in the program.
  2. HR and FSAP will assign families to sponsoring individuals and departments. Sponsors will be provided with a list of the families needs as well as age, gender, and relevant clothing size information for each sponsored family member.
  3. Sponsors will collect wrapped gifts or gift cards for the family members tagged with the age and gender information for the recipient. Sponsors should avoid writing their/their department’s name on the gifts in order to maintain the confidentiality of the program.
  4. Sponsors will deliver gifts for their sponsored families to one of two locations: FSAP or Department of Human Resources offices (information below).
  5. HR and FSAP staff will convey the gifts to the sponsored families.
