Substance Abuse

The FSAP, in conjunction with Employment Services, periodically holds Drug-Free Schools and Communities trainings which educate employees on issues related to drugs and alcohol in the workplace, including spotting a substance abuse problem in oneself or in others, helping someone who has a drug or alcohol problem, and the University policy on drugs in the workplace.

Those who suffer from drug and/or alcohol addiction face major obstacles to succeeding in life — let alone in the workplace. Drug and/or alcohol addiction impedes one’s ability to learn and to work.  Unfortunately, because the disease is characterized by denial, many who need treatment do not request it.
